Day Z of “Deco eats Malaysia!… and so does Marie”. This could be the end, despite having 5 or so more days here in Malaysia – Leaving Penang today heading to the island of Lankawi, but we’ve pretty much eaten everything on our list of. The day started by meeting one of my hero’s on the streets of Penang, Optimus Prime. Himself and bumblebee like to hang out here in Georgetown as they go largely un-noticed by the locals. Lunch was another recommendation from the bible – 888 Hokkien Mee. Noodles in a deep red prawn soup with sweet umami flavours with some added roasted pork and tea egg. Later that day, the last 2 remaining items to tick off the list. Char kuey teow (which we’d already sampled in KL, but were told it was better here) and Satay skewers. In between heavy downpours we managed to get both at the Chulia St Hawkers market. Both were 🤤. On the stroll home, passing through a mid-autumn festival market near the hotel, Marie sample what can only be described as a spring roll puff pastry pie…
